Ben Shelley: Anthony Beauvillier needs to keep momentum going after strong postseason
- Ben Shelley

Just read the title so I’ll go on that but let’s just say what I always say. He has to find consistency and until that happens he’s a decent player and that’s about it. If we’re saying he’s a decent player then yeah cool ok. If he’s ever going to be labeled as a great player he needs to be better then for a 8-10 game stretch imo. When he’s on he’s great but this team needs consistency in the playoffs especially.

Beau is 23 and getting better each year. He and Barzal will learn to overcome the extra attention they got in the playoffs.

That guy's backhand is ridiculous and he knows it. I watched a youtube video of all his goals from the past season and so many of them were him deliberately going to his backhand and putting the puck exactly where he wanted it. I'd love to see stats on his backhand shooting percentage.

hey fellas,

what's the off season game plan? have to make some room to sign your RFA's, who do you try and trade? buyouts?

any possible positions of need you try to acquire via trade free agency

I can see Leddy going if the coaching staff feels Dobson is at the very least ready to take on a limited role. With that said I can also see them keeping him if they can find a way to make the numbers work while signing our RFA’s. As far as adding to our line up the third line could use some wingers for Pageau if Bellows or Wahlstrom aren’t ready yet. I’ll assume they’ll add a player for exactly that and have bellows and or Wahlstrom battle it out for the other spot.

I love Beau.. always have .. basically b/c he gives you 100% every shift. I don't see the consistency issues you guys always talk about. He is one of the smallest guys on the ice and is still one of the better board players on team. He has zero issues going into the corners and getting the puck. He forechecks better than both guys on his line and always back checks. The only time he isn't putting the puck in the net is when his center doesn't pass it to him... I love Brock but as Frustrating as it is with most of our skill guys passing when they should shoot.. Brock is the exact opposite. He shoots no matter what..

If Beau every moves back to Barzal's wing it will be a much better line.. IMO.

My guess.. Greiss gone, Brassard gone, Kuhnackl gone, and Greene gone.

Pulock, Toews, and Barzal will all get Bridge deals.

Martin will get offered a contract less than what he made last year. It iwll be up to him to take less to stay or try and get more somewhere else.

2 years from now the Isles have over $20 mill coming off the cap and I assume the cap will go up by then.. you would think. If they can get some or all of these UFA's to sign Bridge deals they will have a ton of cap to pay them long term at that point.

next year they have over $10 mill but have to sign Sorokin, Pelech, Beau, and Casey if you want to keep. All of this is very manageable for Lou.

dream scenario is Betteman gives each team a one time buyout which is still being discussed. If that happens you get Ladd's 5.5 mill back and then they are really fine.

I think the league will come up with something to give teams Cap relief.

He went 16 games this past season without even a point. That wasn’t the first time he’s a very streaky player. Not really ideal for a top 6 fwd to be consistently inconsistent. I certainly don’t hate the kid but at this point he’s Marty Mcinnis. That’s subject to change of course but that’s where he’s at now imo.

for some reason on Page 1 it doesn't let me reply to a comment.. been that way for a while.

I understand that he goes some games without scoring points. I think Every player in the league does that.. He still gives 110% every shift. I love the kid b/c of that fact. He is always flying...

We did good ! We've got a team that's only going to get better
It sucks that we were so close, but..only 1 team wins every year. I wasn't upset after our loss, nor am I expecting to get to the finals next year..but, the foundation is there..LGI !!!

I am still friggin furious. .. when we finally made our run I wanted it to be all the way to the cup and I think this was our best shot we will have for a while.

This was our dream scenario for match-ups and I feel like we really missed an incredible chance by 6 wins.

We did not have to play the 2 teams that give us fits in Carolina and Boston. (I felt like Vegas or the Blues would be the teams in the West we would struggle against...). We had a Tampa team without Stamkos and Point banged up.. and I really think we would have been a good match-up against Dallas.
